I agree, a persistant feature that could be used as a floating TODO list would be helpful. Or at least an ability to get to it quickly would work such as a button at the bottom next to the lock?

Hi!

I've been using Memoires for three weeks now. I like the easy-to-use, intuitive interface, and also how quickly it loads on my four-year-old MacBook (which will probably be replaced in the next year or two by a faster model). I also like the built-in sketch pad.

Requests for future updates:
(1) I'd like an easier way to switch between journals (files). It would be nice to be able to assign function-key combinations to do this. For example: Shift-Apple-M: Save and close current open journal file, and open my "Main" journal file. Shift-Apple-B: Open my "Backup" journal.
(2) And it would also be nice if I could open a particular journal entry at a specific date with a keystroke combo. (For example, I might want to put all my recipes together in their own long entry, rather than spread them throughout the year.) Some folks might refer to this as a "bookmark". I think that it would be nice to have a function-key combos to do this, too. Example: Shift-Apple-R: Save and close current entry, and open my "Recipe" entry on January 1, 2012.
(3) I'm hoping that you can implement (1) and (2) in a friendly and intuitive way. It would be nice if we could assign arbitrary key-strokes to function-key combos--that would give this feature more power and still be easy-to-learn. (I would rather not have to learn how to use special-purpose windows to assign function-key combos.)
(4) I often need to review existing text entries and add many annotations in a contrasting font and/or color. This is difficult to do with the color-chooser as works now: If I choose another color, it prints in the new color only if I add text to the end of the existing entry. But I often add new text between existing words of the entry. In that case, it adds the new text in the color of the existing words.

Thanks.

Greetings,

I have just downloaded the trial version of Memoires and am very impressed - it is just the kind of diary software I was looking for but there is one thing that immediately occurs to me that you need to put in.

Many like myself has been keeping diaries for many years, some in handwritten journals - a very useful feature would to improve the navigation features so that I could tab back easily by year, or decade even and copy in entries from an old journal into Memoire.

This would mean that you have to be able easily to tab in a date 5 years ago and go there quickly and add the text for just that date.

Perhaps this is already possible .. and that I dont understand the program well enough

I've given it months and months, but it looks like, without an iOS version, I have to give up on Mémoires. Coding Robots already has my money, so I guess it's not big loss to them, but I'm going to try out MacJournal. Looks bloated like a dead whale, but at least there's iOS syncing, and since I spend WAY more time with my iPhone than I do with my desktop, it looks like the obvious choice.

Hi,
the default font size is 12, which I presume is what will come out of the printer. Is there a way to keep that font size but have the display size larger - I find it looks too small for nice writing.
thanks,

Also, if the user has closed a journal file in All Entries view, then when they open it again, it should open with the All Entries list shown instead of the calendar. In other words, the state of the left sidebar, as All Entries or Monthly view, should be saved in the journal file and preserved when opened again.

Hello, will you still implement this request? I was about to make the same request. I see that you have added dates to the right side of the Search Results list, and the same treatment would be great for the All Entries list.

Also, the Search Results list is sorted by reverse chron order, and it would make sense to sort the All Entries list in that order also, because we usually care about most recent entries first.

Thank you, and I await your response.

Search:
Quick search bar in the bottom should also absorb the "Find" features from the menu search. If you search for a word is should not only display a list of the journal entries, but highlight the search entry as well.

Currently to see the highlighted instances you have to first do a quick search, and then go through, entry by entry, doing the Find option from the menu to see highlighted instances of whatever it is you're looking for. That should all be built into one search field.

Exporting:
When exporting to PDF the text should be aligned to the top of the page, not the middle. Extra text that flows over the page looks extremely awkward center justified.

Thanks for your feedback. I need to point out that Mémoires already supports spelling and grammar in all languages that Mac OS X supports, because it uses the OS X spellchecker. It works exactly like in TextEdit, and automatically detects languages. Basically, the only thing lacking regarding languages is that the user interface haven't been translated yet.
