Also, if the user has closed a journal file in All Entries view, then when they open it again, it should open with the All Entries list shown instead of the calendar. In other words, the state of the left sidebar, as All Entries or Monthly view, should be saved in the journal file and preserved when opened again.

Hello, will you still implement this request? I was about to make the same request. I see that you have added dates to the right side of the Search Results list, and the same treatment would be great for the All Entries list.

Also, the Search Results list is sorted by reverse chron order, and it would make sense to sort the All Entries list in that order also, because we usually care about most recent entries first.

Thank you, and I await your response.

Search:
Quick search bar in the bottom should also absorb the "Find" features from the menu search. If you search for a word is should not only display a list of the journal entries, but highlight the search entry as well.

Currently to see the highlighted instances you have to first do a quick search, and then go through, entry by entry, doing the Find option from the menu to see highlighted instances of whatever it is you're looking for. That should all be built into one search field.

Exporting:
When exporting to PDF the text should be aligned to the top of the page, not the middle. Extra text that flows over the page looks extremely awkward center justified.

How do I use the search feature across all entries? I want to search through all my entries to find a particular keyword, like my dog's name or whatever. However, when I use the search function, it only seems to search within the entry I am in. Is there any way to search ALL entries? The website seems to suggest this can be done, but I can't figure out how to do it.

Hi,

I love the simplistic usability of Memoires, but would like to ask about future features before I commit to buy...

Will there be a way to selectively print/export a group of certain entries? For example, if I search for a term/keyword I'd like to be able to export the results within a certain date range.

Also, will there be an option to resize images within an entry and wrap the text around it? One of your competitors (callitaday) has this feature, which creates really nice-looking journal entries - but overall I think Memoires would be better if it could incorporate this feature.

Hi Dmitry,

Would nice to have a feature to search for posts with images (I have no simple idea, how to search images more intelligent, except by tags, so even such simple option would be really a must-have). Thanks.

Currently if you enter two words for search (for example, "hello mac"), it will look for this exact phrase ("hello mac"). I agree that this needs improvement. Thank you!

I am a new user and am very happy with memoires. Also, I second the request for tags to enhance searches. I have taken your earlier advice to add tags myself to the bottom of my entries, which works ok. One advantage of official tags though is that they avoid the synonymy problem. That is, by hand I may tag one post as "travel" and another as "trips". With tags, usually one is given a list of previously used tags to choose from, so you don't repeat yourself. One thing I have done is to put a period before tags, eg. ".travel". So if I search for the word with the period I only get entries which I tagged, instead of ones with the word travel in them.

One other question: Is it possible to search for entries with two specific words in them? I find that if I put two words in the search box, I don't get any entries, even if some contain both those words. Maybe I don't understand the way mac handles searches though. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi,

Lovely program for journaling this! I noticed a thing when searching for something I wrote, that It would be helpful if the words I've searched for were highlighted in the journal entry that is found. Then I could easier find where, if the entries are long.

Best regards,

Please consider modifying the "All Entries" view to show the dates of the entries. This would be more consistent, as dates are shown when searching entries. The visual style used in the search results view is perfect - please just adapt that to the "All Entries" view. Thanks much!
