I tried your suggestion... and it'll work one time if I immediately open the app again after quitting, but subsequent tries did not work. Seems weird cause when I go to File > Open, it opens to the folder containing the journal file.

Sorry for the delay, I have been living my life and then doing my diary!

Unfortunately, I tried the above suggestion to no avail.

I do sync the iDisk using MobileMe subscription. The iDisk is accessible after clicking 'always allow' the first time I opened the database from the iDisk location when prompted.

I have not tried your suggestion in post 2 as the application should work without workarounds. However its a minor irritation and does not not the core function of the application. It would be nice to just work as I only have one database.

Please try the following:

* Open your journal in Mémoires by clicking File > Open.
* Close the journal.
* Quit Mémoires and reboot.
* Launch Mémoires again.

Does this solve the problem?

Also, is iDisk accessible when you launch Mémoires? Is the "iDisk Sync" option turned On or Off (see System Preferences > MobileMe > iDisk)?

I purchased the app yesterday registering the family pack to use on two macs, a desktop and macbook. I am using synced iDisk to store the database allowing both machines access to the file at any time.

I have v2.1(45) and Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and the issue remains where the app does not launch from reboot with the correct last document but it does work if the app is quitted then relaunched. It still annoying as I am wanting to add entries each day from cold boot.

If any further information to fix this issue is required from the developers I am happy to supply.

I'm still having this problem. I've updated to 2.1 and I don't know if 10.6.3 broke it or what, but Memoires is not opening my last document and the Open Recent menu is empty.

Mémoires 2.1 includes a workaround for this 10.6 bug. It now keeps an internal path to file in preferences in addition to using Open Recent menu. If there's nothing in Open Recent menu, it looks for the last opened document in its own preferences.

Any progress with this? I have begun to use another product because of my dissatisfaction. I am hopeful that Memoires would be fixed to open my journal automatically under Snow Leopard, but without this feature the inconvenience is so significant I will go elsewhere. Snow Leopard has been out for some time now and I am not having this issue with any other products I use.

jacoblo: Thanks! This is unrelated, as recent documents are kept by Mac OS X itself without code in our app, but saving view state should be implemented by us. Still, nice suggestion, I've added this into my to-do.

It might be unrelated, but the program doesn't save view options either after re-launch. If I "Show all entries" and hide the calendar, it doesn't save upon relaunch. I personally prefer this view and would be great if it saved between sessions...

Same problem here as well. Tried all suggestions multiple times without any success :(

Will future versions fix this in another way? And when can that be expected?

I was able to set the 'Number of recent items' to 50 and it still didn't work. Also mine was a clean install. I just purchased the program last week. Thank you, oldsoldier.

This is a known issue with Snow Leopard that also causes most Cocoa applications clear items in 'Open Recent' menu (Mémoires uses it to remember last journal). There's no know fixes from Apple at this time, and this issue appears to affect only upgrades or when you transfer your account from the old installation, not clean installs.

You can try one of the following solutions:

1.

- Open 'System Preferences'.
- Click 'Appearance'.
- Make sure 'Number of recent items' for Documents is set to 5 or more.
- Even if it's set, try setting a bigger value.

2.

- Open 'Disk Utility' (from Applications/Utilities folder).
- Select your hard drive on the left pane.
- Click 'Repair Permissions'.

After each solution try this:

- Restart and try launching Mémoires. Open a journal, and take a look
at File > Open Recent. Does the journal appear here?

I have the program open automatically when I turn on my Mac. I had previously gone into Preference and selected the check box to Reopen Last Document but when it starts, it starts with a blank document. I then go to File, Open Recent and it is blank, nothing to select from. I then go to File, Open and there is the desired file. Any suggestions?
Oldsoldier.
